In Australian clubs and especially in WHRPC all people are made very welcome. All ages are welcome to play with WHRPC, you do not need to be super fit - it is a game which can even be played from a wheelchair and there are many physically disadvantaged players of this sport.

Petanque is not a demanding sport, you can play as often or as seldom as you wish, nobody will insist upon you entering into serious competition (though you may get more out of petanque if you do), you will not need to invest in expensive equipment or uniforms. A set of boules (pétanque balls) suitable for beginners and social play can be purchased for about $40 whilst a set of competition rated boules adequate for most players will set you back between $150-$200 but we will provide boules for your use at no cost until you decide you really want to join the club as a playing member.

There is a small annual subscription which includes your membership and Licence with the Petanque Federation Australia (PFA) and accident insurance through them when participating in all things petanque. There are entry fees to many of the competitions if you wish to play in them - but these are very modest. Our Thursday evening ‘Petanque at the Rock’ sessions incur a small charge but that includes a very enjoyable BBQ which we all enjoy after play concludes. A similar small charge may be made at any other Club playing event.

Find a digital copy of our New Members Information booklet (You will receive a printed copy when you come to your first ‘Petanque at the Rock’ session) please take the time to read this hopefully it will give you a more complete description of our game and our club but if you have any questions please ask one of our Committee or any of the members, there is also a section on this website for Tips on Improving Your Games which is very worthwhile reading. We really want to make you welcome and for you to enjoy the Petanque experience. It is supposed to be fun, and it’s more fun when you understand what the game is about - so ask questions - we want to help you enjoy the game!

If you would like to come along to try out this great game or would like to join without further delay please contact us below, we look forward to hearing from you.
